Tucker’s Chicago Law School Graduation Session | A Full Circle Moment
From his high school graduation at Ledford, to his time as a proud Tar Heel at UNC, and now graduating from the prestigious University of Chicago Law School…Tucker has trusted me to document each chapter, and I truly can't express how much that means to me.
When the opportunity to travel was mentioned, I asked my family if they wanted to come! …and it was a unanimous “YES!” So off to Chicago we went! Peyton agreed to be my lighting assistant for a four-hour senior session that was nothing short of amazing. We began at Promontory Point where we got to feel how Chicago got its’ nickname “The Windy City”! The city view there was amazing! It was the perfect place to kick off an evening that felt both relaxed and momentous all at once.
From there, we made our way to the University of Chicago Law School, capturing portraits among the beautiful architecture and stopping by the campus chapel, where the historic stone buildings gave us that timeless, academic backdrop that felt just right for the occasion.
Next up: the Chicago Riverwalk, where the city came alive all around us. Between the urban lines and soft reflections on the water, it added a modern, energetic contrast to our earlier stops. We ended the night at the iconic Bean, where the light bounced in every direction and the energy was electric.
What made this session even more special was the time Peyton and I got to spend with Tucker, Savannah, and his amazing parents, Tony and Carrie. They are the kind of people you immediately feel at home with…gracious, kind, and genuinely proud of all Tucker has accomplished. It’s always such a gift to see the love and support behind the graduate. We laughed, shared stories, and soaked up every moment together.
Getting to photograph Tucker at three of his graduations—Ledford, UNC, and now UChicago—has been one of the most meaningful full-circle experiences of my career. It’s not just about the portraits. It’s about honoring the growth, the hard work, and the people who helped make it all possible.
And YES…we absolutely travel for sessions! Whether you’re graduating in North Carolina or celebrating a milestone in a city like Chicago, we are always up for the adventure. It’s a joy to explore new places, especially when it means capturing such incredible life moments.
Tucker, Carrie and Tony, thank you (again and again!) for inviting me along for your journey. I can’t wait to see what’s next for you and I hope I get to photograph that, too.
