There’s something incredibly special about photographing a college graduate stepping into the next chapter of life...but photographing a future nurse hits a little differently. The heart, dedication, compassion, and resilience it takes to complete nursing school is something worth celebrating in a big way...and this recent session at Elon University was absolutely beautiful from beginning to end.
We spent the evening exploring all around Elon’s campus...capturing the iconic spots that made her college years so memorable while also intentionally documenting the journey that shaped her future career. One of the most meaningful parts of the session was visiting the Health Sciences building where so many long study nights, clinical preparations, exams, and milestones took place. There was something so full circle about creating portraits in the very place where her dream became reality.
She brought along stacks of nursing books that represented years of hard work and determination...and honestly, those images may have been some of my favorites from the entire session. They told such a powerful story without needing words. The textbooks, notes, and pink scrubs symbolized not only the countless hours she invested into becoming a nurse...but also the heart she brings into caring for others.
And can we talk about the pink scrubs for a second? They were the perfect reflection of her personality...fun, feminine, confident, and full of joy. I absolutely love when graduates incorporate personal touches into their sessions because it makes the images feel even more authentic and meaningful. Her session felt like the perfect blend of professional accomplishment and celebrating who she is as a person.
Of course, we also wandered through some of the most beautiful areas around campus to capture that classic Elon graduate feel. From brick pathways and gorgeous architecture to the dreamy spring light shining through the trees...every corner gave us another beautiful backdrop to document this season of life.
One of my favorite things about senior and graduate sessions is that they freeze a moment that goes by so quickly. One minute you’re walking into freshman orientation unsure of what the future holds...and the next, you’re walking across the stage preparing to care for patients and change lives.
To this beautiful Elon nursing graduate...congratulations on an incredible accomplishment. The world needs compassionate nurses like you, and I have no doubt you are going to make such an impact wherever life takes you next!!
