Meaghan and Andrew

The Millennium Center

Read their love story, in Meaghan's own words, and then view their pictures from their classic, blush wedding at The Millennium Center in Winston Salem!

After a month or so of flirting, long phone calls, and Saturday morning runs we went on our first date on May 17th, 2014. (I'll interject to say, Meaghan and Andrew were married at 5:17pm, in honor of their first date!) Andrew had surprised me by taking me to Celebration Station since I mentioned I loved putt-putt and I have never rode in a go-kart. After that we went and ate one of my favorite foods, ice cream. Then we took a leisurely walk throughout the Greensboro Arboretum. At this point we had been on our date for 4 and a half to 5 hours. Finally Andrew took me to his house, and on the back patio he had two chairs, two cheese sticks, two beers, rose petals scattered and Frozen projected onto the house. We watched the entire movie, and he even tolerated me singing along.

As if it wasn't enough to get me to like him (which I had totally fallen at this point), Andrew set up our second date to drive to Virginia to ride an elephant together. Each day since has been an adventure. Countless movies, movie festivals, a few music festivals, performances, runs, and so many other great memories.

And now what you're waiting for, the proposal. Andrew knows I LOVE Beyonce. So when the tour dates were announced and she was going to be in Raleigh I was ecstatic. Danielle (my little sister, and maid of honor) and I decided to go together. Andrew was sweet enough to get on the phone with her, and my mom to get the best seats. Andrew had told me he bought 3 tickets, so he could sell the third to make back some money. (In my mind that made perfect sense!)

The day of I drove and met Danielle at the hotel. We got ready, had dinner and we were off! The concert was amazing, and then, it was delayed. Right in the middle. I had no idea I was supposed to be getting proposed to in just two songs. We had to evacuate the stadium, and just wait. Andrew was being told inside that she was not coming back on, that the concert was over! Finally someone told him, and us, Queen Bee was not leaving!

We finally made our way back to our seats and she starts again! Even better than before. Then when 1+1 comes on, Danielle tells me to turn around. I do as she says, confused, and then turn back to her and she is crying. When I turn again I see Andrew, and I thought, "How sweet, he came to surprise me at my favorite concert!". Then I saw all of these glow sticks, and then, in his hand, a ring box! I was shocked. We stood together and talked, it truly felt like it was just the two of us in the stadium, and then he got down on one knee and asked "Meaghan Mehling will you marry me?" And of course I said yes :)
